What We Print With

Material guide

Every material has trade-offs — here's what to expect from each, and when we'd recommend it.

PLA

Most popular — best surface finish

Our default material for decorative pieces, keychains, and display items. PLA is plant-based (corn starch), prints with crisp detail, and holds fine text and small features well. It's rigid but can soften in direct sun or a hot car, so it's best suited to indoor pieces.

  • Strength: Good, but brittle under a sharp impact
  • Detail: Excellent — the sharpest finish of the three
  • Heat resistance: Low (softens around 60°C)
  • Best for: Keychains, decor, planters, gifts

PETG

Stronger & more durable

A step up in durability — PETG flexes slightly before breaking rather than snapping, resists moisture well, and holds up better to everyday knocks. It's our go-to for anything that gets handled a lot or spends time outdoors occasionally.

  • Strength: Very good — tougher & more impact-resistant
  • Detail: Good, slightly glossier finish than PLA
  • Heat resistance: Moderate (around 80°C)
  • Best for: Phone stands, hooks, functional parts

ABS

Toughest — for functional parts

The most heat- and impact-resistant of the three — it's what a lot of everyday moulded plastic products are actually made from. It's the best choice for parts that need to survive real wear, mechanical stress, or higher temperatures.

  • Strength: Excellent — high impact resistance
  • Detail: Good, can be smoothed for a glossy finish
  • Heat resistance: High (around 100°C)
  • Best for: Mechanical parts, tools, high-wear items

Accepted formats

STL, OBJ, STEP, and 3MF. STL is the most common and works for almost everything — STEP is best if your design needs precise, editable dimensions.

Minimum wall thickness

Keep any wall or feature at least 1.5mm thick. Thinner than that risks warping, snapping mid-print, or not printing cleanly at all.

Overhangs & supports

Steep overhangs beyond roughly 45° usually need support material, which can affect the surface finish underneath — let us know if a clean finish matters more than print speed.

No file? No problem

Send a photo, sketch, or just describe what you're after and roughly how big — we can often model it or find something close and quote from there.
